Brief Report on the General Meeting held during afternoon tea:
Apologies Beryl W, Linda S, Lynne G, Norm K, Glenys C. Also noted Cynthia H’s absence in Hospital.
First Motion “The Club should continue to be affiliated with the SA and Australian Bridge Federations” was put to the meeting without discussion and decided by a show of hands 16 for and 5 against. The motion was carried in the affirmative.

Meeting opened 2:35 Chaired by the Secretary in the absence
of President Beryl.

First Motion “The Club should continue to be affiliated with the SA and Australian Bridge Federations” was put to the meeting without discussion and decided by a show of hands 16 for and 5 against. The motion was carried in the affirmative.
Second Motion: “The Club should change its playing venue to
the Lewis Fields Community Centre” required some discussion. Garry S as a
resident of the Lewis Fields Community and Malcom T as a senior member of the
Strathalbyn Lutheran Church both withdrew from the discussion and voting but
provided information as required during the discussion. Main concern was
parking on Parker Avenue during winter. The motion was put to a show of hands
with 9 for and 10 against so the motion was denied and there will be no change
of venue.

Information
Pertinent for 6 Dec 2017 Meeting
Regarding
Continued Affiliation
We are expecting ABF/SABF 2018 capitation fees to be
~$25 per home member = ~$1000 with Masterpoint fees ~$120 (this year we paid
~$500 and we are currently ~$300 ahead of where we were this time last year).
The management committee does not propose any changes to member payments to the
club for 2018.
Apart from Public Liability Insurance other free
stuff can be available (occasional government grants favour organizations with
national affiliations).
Regarding
Change of Venue
Most of us will be required to park on Parker Avenue
but at least there will be shade in Summer.
The new venue can easily accommodate 10 tables.
The layout (see the video) is similar to the Rosa
Hoare Room but more practical with a carpet floor (easier to pick up dropped
cards). Acoustics may not be as good.
The proposed cost is $50 cf current $48.
Cynics may differ, but there is a prospect for new
members from the immediate neighbourhood.
