Alexandrina's Eighth Birthday Celebration on 5 June 2019

Madame President presents ALL the trophies, the Margret Warren Cup and "The Marj" to Pieter and Garry:

So, overall results for the 2018-19 Playing Year (for readers bemused by two winners for Most Appearances, an explanation follows the ladders):

So ...

The 2019 Alexandrina Contract Bridge Club Champion Pair is Garry and Pieter and they are also inaugural winners of "The Marj",

the prize for  Reserve Champion Pair goes to Beryl and Val,

the prize for Highest Weekly Percentage goes to Norma and Norman,

the prize for Greatest Average Increase (an outstanding 5.75%) goes to Glenys and Rae and

the prize for Most Appearances goes to Bill and Jane.

To be in the competition for the Trophies and prizes you need to have played 60% of available games and 9 partnerships met that criterion. To ensure that one partnership does not take all the prizes there is a hierarchy of competition and winning one makes a partnership ineligible for any further prizes. 

The new TROPHY, "The Marj" Trophy will always go to the partnership that had the most appearances.  The percentages are calculated using the 30 best weekly averages so expect the Champions to often be "The Marj" winners, although note that Marie played 49 times this year (and we still haven't worked out a medal for her).

The ladder is also a sad reminder of the loss of Chris, Cynthia, Ruth and Marj.

SABA Mount Barker on 3 June 2019

Seven tables and we played six rounds (omitting the last) for 24 boards.

Nothing exciting happened but we weren't bored.
